Performance Company

In 2013, Peak launched its first ever Performance Company. These dancers compete in jazz and contemporary categories at local and national competitions. The Performance Company program includes solo, duet, trio and group routines. Dancers in this program attend various conventions in Colorado throughout the season. We are thrilled to provide these athletes the opportunity to grow as dancers by exposing them to different master instructors across all genres of dance, who represent different styles and influences from their respective backgrounds and training at each convention. This type of training helps our dancers become strong, well-rounded athletes who have a worldly understanding and appreciation for all styles of dance.

The Performance dance Company here at Peak is a separate program from the competitive all star dance program. The Performance dance Company has done very well in the three short years since it was developed, as they have received High Gold and Platinum ratings at all the competitions and conventions the performance dance company has attended.

The Peak Athletics Performance Company is open to all interested dancers. Dancers may train in the disciplines of Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theater and Hip Hop. It is open to both dancers who are currently in our competitive program and those who are not a part of our all star competitive program. Performance Company athletes who are currently in the all star competitive dance program will practice an additional 3 hours per week (potentially more depending on how many routines the dancer has requested and subsequently been accepted into for that season), as well as attending competitions and conventions.

This upcoming season, Peak will have the performance dance company athletes attend 3-4 local competitions, along with 3-4 local conventions. The performance company athletes will sometimes attend a convention and not compete their routines, as well as vice versa, sometimes we will compete routines, but not attend the full convention. This decision is made by the Performance Company Coordinator, and is decided with the best interest of the dancers and the Performance Company program in mind. As of right now, the performance dance company will not be traveling to any national competitions or conventions during the 2015-16 season.

It is our goal to ensure that all of our performance company dancers can participate at a level that is a strong fit for their training and competition goals. Once our company members are selected, each dancer will select his/her desired commitment and performance genre for the season (minimum of one performance/competition piece per athlete). Each dancer will be selected by the Peak Coaching Staff and/or Choreographer for each routine. The weekly practice schedule is then set for dancers based on the number of routines in which they are participating in order to maximize their training and opportunity to work with our expert coaching staff.

Auditions for the 2015-16 season will be held in July 2015.
